Frequently Asked Questions
If you would like to use my work, advertise, sponsor, or have any sort of business related questions please e-mail me.
What is this site?
Updates
I am me. But if you want more I have a bio on the site just for you.
Who does the music in all these vids?
Most of the older videos have various music. All of the newer ones are done by a wonderful musician by the name of Nathan Bostick, who, with Fiberline Audio have given me the ability to give you some kickin' tunes that can help enhance my videos. If you want to buy any of their stuff, head over to their website and buy something! Bostick's stuff is great for parties, LAN or otherwise!
Who does the artwork for this site?
Most of the banners you see at the top of the page and those that I use as links to specific sections are done by a guy named Stephen, aka "MarthMaster92". The Halo 2 banner you see was created by Germain Couët a long time ago when I was on HBO.
Why don't you do (insert game)?
Well, time mostly. If I didn't have to sleep or work I'd do every game that I saw was even slightly competitive. However, I have to work a normal job like everyone else, go to school, visit my friends, take my girlfriend out to dinner, get a good nights rest, and every once in a while have a little fun. If a game is really good, and it is really competitive, and has a decent fanbase to it, I'll do it if I have the ability to. Game systems, graphics cards, processors, RAM, they're all really expensive. You might want me to do a guide on that brand new PS3 game, but unless Sony ends up shipping me a system you can count that out.
I found a mistake in your video / article!
Congratulations! If you found something wrong, chances are it is so small that I don't care, or for some reason or another (like corruption of an initial video file) I found it too much hassle to deal with. However, I do want to hear about all of these mistakes on the offchance that I made some glaring error that passed by, so send me an e-mail.
Some of your videos tell us to go to halo.bungie.org....
You should. Many of these videos are old, and originally were hosted on other websites, the main one being HBO . Louis Wu was kind enough to get me started, and without him I wouldn't be where I am today. I am eternally in his debt for this, and maybe one day I'll be able to pay him back. For now, if you love Halo just go to HBO . It'll be worth your while. I don't plan on wasting my, or your, time in changing all of the intro/outro and whatnot for all of those videos (some of which are outdated), so we'll just have to live with it.
I want to do things for you! Writing, video, interviews, anything!
That's great, and one of the great things about this website is that it is run by Overswarm (that's me), and only Overswarm (still me). That means if I personally like your stuff, you're in! If you've got a video or article you'd like to be hosted, put it online somewhere. I suggest YouTube for videos, and our forums for articles. Don't e-mail them to me; if I want that, there will be an announcement on the main page. Keep in mind that this is a professional website about professional gaming. If you can't write, speak, or edit video like a pro, chances are you will be turned down. Especially if you aren't a "big name" in the game in question.
Are you planning on doing any single player strategy guides?
Maybe. It is unlikely, though. I don't do campaign or anything like that. If you want something like that, go to Stuckgamer.com or read something by Bradygames or Prima. I just pick up where they leave off.
Miscellaneous website design inquiries!
The whole "white website" thing never has appealed to me. Staring at a bright white background trying to read text is like trying to read the wattage of your light bulb. While the light is on . This is foolish and unacceptable. While some of you may be yearning for your blues and reds and greens, I am going to tell you that the predominant colors on this website will be black, white, and grey. Dark colors make for easier reading, and help both advertisers and myself have an easier time grabbing your attention if we so choose.
Also, this isn't paper. I have an infinite amount of space, and therefore can leave large areas of my "space" left blank with no repurcussions whatsoever. Hooray for technology! The length of the text you see is a result of much research on my part into how people actually view websites.
The smaller text encourages focused reading (rather than scanning), the light colored font on a dark background allows for extended periods of reading with little to no strain on my viewer's eyes, and the short length of lines allows for effective speed reading. There is no content to the left because it effectively "chokes" content in the center, as our eyes tend to lean towards the left when reading websites. The navigation is at the top center because that (after the giant banner on top) is where you will first look upon seeing this website, as well as where you will look when you need to find it.
Since said navigation will constantly be changing to prevent clutter, this is a good thing. The advertisement is placed in a long banner on the right side because placing it there makes it unobtrusive, but at the same time completely visible. It's just the way our brain works, which is going to be my answer to most of the questions I get about the web design here. The answer to all the other website related questions will be "I didn't know anything about HTML until a few weeks before this website went up".
